I'v just recieved a model KV-F29SZ2 Trinitron Colour TV and cant figure out how to tune it. I've got a RM-857 remote as well.

I can't be sure if your model is the same, but on my Sony Trinitron, the tuning sequence is as follows:
Open flap on front of TV.
1) Press Preset key (diamond with right arrow)
2) Press PROG + or _ to select desired program position
3) Press VOL + or - to tune through the band until desired channel is displayed.
Repeat steps 2) and 3) to tune all channels
4) Press Preset key to return to normal viewing
