I need to set up the box on a friends tv which has not got a scart socket. Also tv does not have auto tuning so I tried just using a spare channel button and turned the knob right thru from end to end. TV picked up tv channels but NOT the set top box. The box was connected via aerial lead and red power light on. We don't have manuals for tv or box so can anyone help?

It won't work on a TV without a SCART socket. I am afraid that is a simples as that. This is because it doesn't have a UHF output. Most cheap boxes (It was only a tenner at Asda when new.) don't.
