how to unlock memory card?

I have a SanDisk 1.0 GB MMC SD card. The card says it is locked; however, there is no physical lock on the card, nothing. I am not sure how it locked but could someone help. I tried to format it; however, it would not recognize there was a card when I attached it to my computer.
