How do i remove the tap cover on my Aqualisa shower?

My Aqualisa shower is dripping and has been for alittle while. I have managed to take out the screw holding the tap cover in place but I am unable to remove the cover and do not want to assert too much pressure for fear of damaging the whole unit.

It sounds like corrosion spray some penetration oil or wf40 and let it stand for 30 mins. put your hand on the tape and give it a good pull.
