All inkjet printers must be used at least once a month to keep them in good condition. I f u have nothing to print, then just run off a test page.

I am presuming you have not printed for a while, and if this is the case then your system is clogged with dry inks. If you are using a new ink cartridge, there is no need to soak it. You need to get some head cleaning fluid, available from any good pc shop, inject some into your old cartridge and run this through the printer until it cleans. with lexmark this can take hours of printing to clear.

Try soaking the bottom (just the bottome0 of the cartridge in saucer of water (deionised if you have some) for a couple of hours. Dry thoroughly on a piece of kitchen towel and try again. BTW there is a printer forum.

Have you removed all the packaging from your new cartridges? (Did you have a plastic tab to pull off? Some come with an air hole which you must open before the ink will flow.)
