dyson dc1 not picking up??

my dycon dc1 has good suction on the hose and in full upright position, but seems to lose most of it when tilted back into its normal working position, therefore it doesnt pick up well? it has had new brush and filters. any ideas anyone???

Check the two rubber flaps at the bottom of the flexy wand...often they get held open by grit.
