Media Player showing a negative image when playing videos. Help!?

I have Windows Media Player 10, but since I got my new PC it has been unable to display videos correctly. They sound ok, and play at the normal speed, but the colours are all distorted, similar to the negatives you get with a camera. I've spoken to a friend who thinks it sounds like a codec fault, but he's unsure also how to get this fixed. Can anyone help?

Thanks Czorn - worked for me too!
I can't beleive how many times I have scratched my head wondering what to do without screwing up something - this was a simple fix that can be un done if other probs result in it.
Thanks again!

I had this similar problem with a clients computer. My tech guy solved it in an instant remotely. Open your windows media player, r click over the top tool bar to bring up the tools tab, click options, performance, use the slider and move it to none. The hardware processing kicked in and causes this weird effect. So by sliding it to none, the processor doesn't effect it. It worked for my client. Hope it works for you.

No answer required now - if anyone has a similar problem, try uninstalling drivers. It seems I had installed drivers twice, thus conflicting with each other. Hope this helps someone.
