Why my Hotpoint Washing machine is jumping and shaking like crasy?

Please can you help me with this question as my Hotpoint washing machine is jumping and shaking like crasy when i switch it on, it was working fine before for the last 5 years.

Also I know this is common sense but it could be something as simple as an uneven load

The shock absorber housing was damaged. I changed the shock absorber housing (on both sides for good measure) and the machine is running very smoothly now. However, the vibration before was so violent as to cause damage to something else, (the door won't open because the 'pecker' was damaged). Moral of the story seems to be, if there is excessive vibration sort it out before it does extra damage to your machine!

I have a Hotpoint WM31, (about 10 years old), and have just discovered that a pin, which is connected to the drum and which should slide in the shock absorber, has jumped right out. The whole drum is therefore unstable. I haven't yet checked for anything else that may have caused this - maybe a mounting has broken - but plan to tackle this tomorrow.

hi
I had the same problem before with my hotpoint WMA 60.
Make sure it's stable, adjust it so it's standing in perfect horisontal platform.
other thing could be the bolts that hold the weight, inside the machine, you will see two heavy concret stones. check the top one, one or more bolts are loose..

Andrew
