how do i remove an oil filter housing on a vectra ?

i have a 1.8 vectra (w reg), i need to remove the oil filter housing but dont know how to. is it a specialised tool and what size.

My son has one of these and to change the oil filter I'm sure we just used a socket set to get at it.
