How can I fix a vertical shift problem?

I have an 8-10 yr old 27" Mitsubishi standard TV. It has a vertical shift problem, i.e., a flat line in the middle of the screen; sound but no picture. Can this be fixed cheaply, or is it time to junk the TV?
