I wonder if you are talking about the black cable thats connected to the handlebar? If so, this has 2 functions 1) It applies the flywheel brake, stopping the engine quickly 2) It also grounds the low tension side of the ignition coil, killing the engine electrically. If the cable has a faulty end, replace the whole thing.
