fuel pump?

after breaking down i was told the fuel pump had gone is there anything i could check first ei relays etc and where would i find them? on a vauxhall cavalier m reg

If you can use a multimeter just check for voltage at the pump.
If no volts, electrical problem.
If volts, pump problem.
Try putting a feed directly to the pump.
If you dont have the skills to do this leave it alone.

i think the fuel pump relay is in the drivers footwell behind the right hand kick panel.
