My car has just developed the same fault...along with lots of clicking!
Probably not hard to fix once you get the CD player out of the consul/dash...that is once you've found some CD player removal tools as SAAB wont sell you any! Another trip to the main dealer....another £400 bill.
I did find a company down in Devon who say they can fix for £99, might be a good idea to ask a car entertainment specialist local to you what they can do.
I used to love Saab's....the old ones ;-)
