With the VCR off, hold down the tv/vcr button on the original remote. You will see 4 L.E.D. lights flashing (channel 4). Release and hold the tv/vcr button again and then you will see 3 L.E.D lights, hence channel 3. You need the remote to do this. If you don't have the original remote, a universal might work if it has the tv/vcr function

Good question! The Sharp USA website is not worth a darn and does not have the manual available. I have found my VCR switches between 3 and 4 if the power goes out. I had it displaying on 3 for nearly a year and now one lightening storm and poof Channel 4 here we go.

IN short: Try unplugging it for 15 minutes.
