I have a hole the size of a silver dollar in the middle of my living room that my dog chewed! I have more carpet and would like to know how to mend it.

Take a piece of matching carpet larger than the area which is damaged. Stretch slightly and tack over the area. Use a sharp knife and a straightedge to cut a square through both carpets.
Lift out damaged piece and using carpet tape glue new pi9ece of carpet into place.
