How can I get my dyson vacuum cleaner working?

I have a dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner which has stopped working. There was a strong electrical smell just prior to the motor stopping. I have checked all ports for blockages etc. I have left it for 1 hr in case the thermal cut-out has been triggered but to no avail. Does this suggest the motor has to be replaced. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sounds like the motor has burnt out.
Remove it and see if the brushes and commutator are burnt/worn down. If the damage is only slight you could get away with fitting new brushes.
Personally I chucked mine in the bin (it was 5 years old!) and bought a refurbed one on ebay
