Ferguson M 8421u?

The TV screen stuck on Country Selection will not respond to remote.
Turned off and on still the same.

The front "membrane" switch pad on the TV is faulty with one of the switches constantly operating thus producing your problem.
Ideally it needs to be replaced but spares will now be a problem, it can be disconnected to restore operation by the remote only.
