last belt snapped so bought a new one. Now i cannot seem to get the new belt to tension up. There is 2 metal feet inside attached to the runners for the belt oh and a spring between the two. Not worth paying a dryer fixer type person as it is old and besides its good to have a tinkle i have tried spinning the drum but this failed

Hi Dwyne,
remove the front control knob & fascia panel then the front panel itself you can now put the belt around the Hotpoint tumble dryer drum. The two metal strap with a spring between then are called jockey pulley's & there job is to keep the drive belt tensioned and not become loose, the belts goes around the motor shaft and the pulley wheels go on the outside of the belt. One each side of the motor pulley. I hope this helps you work it out now.
