moped died,piaggio zip w reg 50cc?

i was riding my moped the other day,had to go slow cause of road conditions, when conditions allowed for me to speed up i opened the trottle and the bike lost power and cut out, after about 10 mins started again but wouldn't pull and threatened to cut out,let revs off and allowed bike to tick over to help me push back up a hill but after about 3 mins power died and cut out hasn't started since,i have compression but just won't kick start, all lights ect are working, has fuel and oil please help, has never started with elec start but always started first time by kick start

ii sounds like the carb has water in it to me,i would just try and drain the carb off by the small screw on the side of the bottom of the float bowl on the carb, failing that you need to see if it has a spark still by earthing the plug on the engine or frame and see if it sparks.these piaggio mopeds have a very simple ignition system and there isnt alot that can wrong with them so i doubt its that although the primary ignition coils do pack up from time to time.it has a cdi/doil so the cdi and coil are one unit there is a red/white /black/green and its the green wire that goes from the cdi/coil up the wiring loom to the ignition switch if you dont have a spark try to dis- connect the green wire from the cdi you will see there is one terminal for it in the cdi but two green wires go into it look whcih one comes out and goes into the loom thats the one you need to disconnect the other green wire goes to the generator stator assembly along with all the other wires leave that one.p.s when you drain the carb have the bike over a dry surface and when the fuel/water runs out you will be able to tell if its petrol or water by its appearance if it has both together the water will form globules in the petrol the tank may need to be drained if it keeps happening if that is the cause of course.
