how can i fix bandsaw starter problems?

i have a Dewalt DW 738 bandsaw and the start/stop switch is faulty.can I use the start capacitor in conjunction with a non dewalt cheaper no volt start/stop switch.The branded item is very expensive.Please help.I realise it is a capacitor start motor.

you can use a different switch . all the capaciter on the motor does is store up power to start the motor , look at the rating plate on the motor first though , whats the amps it uses? 15? 20? use the same rated switch as a replacement , sam answer as above, but a lil less technical

Why not - if it fits and the switch functionality is the same and the load carrying capacity sufficient.
