My Mountfield recycler mower worked great for the first year (about six sessions of mowing) and for 3 sessions the follwing year when it would start smoking profusely and then stopping.
I checked the oil level which was fine, changed the spark plug but still no improvement.
Am I expecting too much from my mower? Does it just need servicing?

Would appreciate any help you can give.

It maybe that the mower has been tipped, this will send oil down the engine breather and oil soak the paper oil filter, check around the filter area for traces of oil, remove the air filter cover, the filter should be dry, not wet or oil stained.
