54 plate vauxhall combo gearbox fault?

i have a vauxhall combo and carnt find a gear. The gear stick is floppy. what could be the problem

gear linkage may have dropped off, get someone to move lever whilst you look at back of g/box below battery, you may see where it is disconnected.[will possibly need replacing as they only drop off if worn!]
