timing chain broke?

1998 ford transit van timing chain broke.mechanic said my van is scrap

Its not a timing chain on the 98 transit mate, its a cambelt,

and 90% of the time it does not damage the valves but can bend the push rods so you will have to have a belt fitted and then try it.
