Make sure the adjuster pawl in the cover engages with the hole in the bar, leave the clamping nut finger tight, screw the adjuster screwclockwise until the chain is snug all round the bar, pull the chain around the bar with a gloved hand to make sure it is sitting in the sprocket correctly, do the final chain tightening, the tension should be that you can just pull two drive links clear from the top of the bar.
