XP wont recognise my modem?

I would like to upgrade to windows XP from 98SE, however when i install XP and try to find the modem which works fine with 98SE, C/W XP driver for my Intel ham data fax voice modem. I cannot find my modem listed, there only appears in the list ''standard 56k modem'' which i've tried to use, but windows tells me i'm using the best driver already but flags hardware failure when i try to go online...everything works fine when I've uninstalled XP and revert back to 98SE. XP does warn this modem will need an updated driver on installation.

Stuart, if you continue to have problems and if it seems like you can't upgrade to XP because of your modem, I would consider replacing it. Dial-up Modems are quite cheap now. You could probably buy another one for about £15. It may not be worth you spending very much time getting your old one to work.

The easiest answer is to go to your modems manufactures website and download the latest drivers for your modem. You seem to have done what I would advise you to have done initially.

Stuart...you need to tell us the make and model of your modem. It is impossible to help you without this information.
