Both Brake lights not working on Citroen Xsara Picasso?

Hi both my brakes lights have stopped working on my Xsara Picasso, 51 plate. The brake strip still works.

With them both going at the same time I'm wondering whether it's something different to just needing new bulbs?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Bulbs are ok and switch has been replaced what else could the fault be

there is a small switch fixed to a bracket under the brake pedal, the switch completes the circuit when you brake. you can get a rplacement at any motor factors for a couple of quid a fault with this switch is the probable cause
