my peugeot trekker wont run properly?

i have a 2000 (W) reg peugeot trekker 50. it starts fine and ticks over perfectly but when the throttle is opened id starts to pull and then stops pulling every 5 seconds or so. cand any1 tell me or give me an idea of whats wrong. i have had a new spark plug fitted and plug cap and set up the carb but nothing seems to work. can you help?

it sounds like the cdi unit is faulty and limiting the revs this is common on the peugeot scooters,it should limit the revs when the bike gets to about 35mph but the capacitors in the cdi unit can change their values through age and wear and discharge early or late which causes this problem
