PC wont boot. Blue Screen with message 'bad pool caller'?

Hi
I have a similar problem to a guy on another post. I recently tried to reinstall Windows XP (as my son infected the pc with a Trojan!) but XP only loads half way before i get presented with the blue screen of death and message 'bad pool caller'.

To try an fix it I cannot get into the 'safe mode' screen as when i press F8 on set up, i just get the message 'floppy diskette seek failure', strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility (and the computer wil not respond to the keyboard commands).

All of my data is backed up so i just need to be able to get to the point where i can get the PC to accept a re-load of XP.

Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Do the reinstall again, make sure you delete all partitions and create them again to your specific sizes during the windows installation. Also make sure that you do a full format of your primary partition and not just a quick format, you want to make sure no bugs are hiding in your boot sector and not being formated with the rest of the data.

if this does not work and you still get the same error there are bootable programs that you can download to test your PCs components, it may be that the hard drive has failed during the installation and cannot access the data correctly.
