HP 4l paper jam?

I have several HP 4L printers. They seem to be all developing the same problem. When printing, the first page starts making its way, stops after it went about three quarters of its way through the fuser with a small piece appearing in the upper tray, and a second page gets stuck as it starts making its way out of the paper tray.
Could you tell me what the cause it, and how to fix it.
Thanks in advaance.

The most common reason for a paper miss-feeds happens after putting a new supply of paper in the tray. Before topping up the tray it is important to take out any remaining unused paper, add the new supply to this and then fan through all the paper and carefully knock it together to re-align it before putting it into the tray.
Hope this helps, sorry if it's more complicated than this!
