can I fix my cars air/con?

My car is a toyota carina 1997 1.8 auto. The air/con hasnt worked since ive had it.Im told it could be the air/con pump.can I fix this myself?

Although it could be the pump/compressor, it may just need re-gassing. If pump/compressor isn't cutting in,it may be because the pressure is to low! Best to have it checked by someone with the proper tackle.
