Hotpoint Aquarius 1000: how to fix spin?

The spin has stopped working. (The control knob goes all the way round through spin to stop, as usual.) Any ideas?

sound like the carbon brushes need replacing in the motor, take the top off , if the motor i at the top the brushes and holders just clip in
