how can I fix the heater on my N reg nissan micra?

The heater (blower) switch only works on the maximum setting. I have checked the switch on the dashboard with a multi meter and it works fine. I tested the plug in the back of the switch and found that only the connectors corresponding to the maximum setting work. I assume that this plug goes into some sort of relay, but have no idea of how to locate it !
I would be grateful for any help.

There is a heater blower resistor assy located in the air ducting on the passenger side footwell area look up and you will see the base of the motor assy i think the resistor is screwed in into either the bottom of the duct or into the side of the duct behind the glove box this resistor controls the other 3 speeds of the blower motor if i remember correctly i think the connector has 4 terminals in line
