I thought that I was gong crazy when it appeared that I kept forgetting to turn the dryer on. Turns out that it keeps cutting out. It will start for a little while and then gives up. I have tried hovering out dust and have attempted to check for anything that might be stopping to drum turning but no luck. I does tend to make a horrible burning smell before it cuts out like a motor is working overtime. I have taken the thing to bits as much as possible. The dial is also acting weird and fast "forwarding" now and again. Any clues of what to do get a professional in or buy a new one.

Phil, suffering the same problem - normally runs for 4 or 5 minutes then cuts out. Since it seems to get warm enough I'm wondering if one of the thermocouples (there are 2) has gone.
Of course it would help if we could find a decent repair manual although I have located a supplier of said thermocouples.
