How can I get my sound to work?!?

Instead of music or sound effects, I get a loud buzz, both through the speakers and any set of headphones. Any ideas as to how I can fix it?

It is a dell inspiron 1545

check that the sound driver is installed, if yes then right click on speaker icon, open voloum control to see if the sound is at the correct levels. if no driver you will need to install one.
