It is a fifteen year old riding mover a MTD. IT cranked the first time and then choked down. I checked the starter and it was worn. I replaced the starter and it is still not firing. Do I need to replace the magneto?

hiya um yeah that sounds like a sooty spark plug as well. I have an oldish one as well 1984 model i think but you should take the spark plug out and clean it because mine had that problem wear it chocked down but if that idea fails then yeah i would consider checking the magneto
