Cheers Alan,
Only just got around to doing as you said and it
is sorted. Managed to do it without jacking up the car, by squeezing my hand through the wheel arch.
I found the hardest thing was to get the clips out that hold the trim.
thanx for the help

Been there twice - jack front rightside up and use axle stand and you will see the pump (it is a struggle and it helps to remove fasteners in trim and hold it back)
Pull off connector then pull out pump, (might be a bit stiff - but it will come out) you will find a filter in the inlet which will be blocked with gunge. It also pulls out and is easily cleaned and replaced (use old toothbrush) Have you used washing up liquid and then screenwash - think this causes reaction.
Do not work under car using only the jack use axle stand/s or ramps.
