How do i replace the clutch on my citroen saxo 1999?

how do i replace the clutch on my citroen saxo, without having to take it to the garage and paying through the nose for the work, which i hopefully can do myself at the fraction of the price
Mr Neil Mozley, June 2006
the clutch on a saxo is a real problem to change - there is a 'special' tool needed and a not straightforward way of using this tool at a wierd angle and in an awkward way with the engine/geerbox half split and tilted upward in the middle. I know of an experienced mechanic who managed to replace the clutch on a saxo without the special tool - it took him about A WEEK TO COMPLETE THE JOB -

Clutches can be done at a fraction of the price that a garage charges. To see if you will be able to cope I suggest that you buy (or borrow from the library) a Haynes manual for your car. They usualyy have a detailed (with pictures) procedure for clutches.
