Aprilia Habana Custom 125 Ignition?

Hello,

I can't get my bike to fire. The starter motor turns but it doesn't fire. I have checked and there is no spark in the spark plugs, nor does there seem to be any current coming from the lead. The problem started when I was riding my bike and it lurched then died. When I took off the inspection panel, the spark plug lead was disconnected from the spark plug - which would've caused it to die when it did. I fear that this may have cooked the CDI. However, I hope that someone on here might have an answer that will be cheaper!

I haven't checked any of the electrics as I haven't got a tester. If anyone can recommend me a cheap one from Maplins I will be grateful for that as well.

Thanks,

Clive

Hi Adam,

It is an after market immobiliser

Thanks,

Clive

this bike doesn't have an immobiliser unless you have an aftermarket one on it?

Hi BB,

I have actually solved the problem. It appeared that the connection in the HT lead was slightly loose. I tightened this up and got a spark. However, the engine would still not start. The reason for this is because the electrics failed (blew a fuse as well) it caused the immobiliser to switch on. As soon as I pressed the fob, it started first time. I checked over the electrics with a multi-metre that my parents had and there is nothing wrong there.

Thanks for your help

Any electronic multi Metre from Maplin is good. Get a digital one
No spark. Before you throw away your CDI check the coil also the connections between the Plug cap HT leand and coil need to be really tight and the leads need to be really good condtiton.
Check all these first before you dive into CDIs
