kenmore dryer will power up but will not start?

I can turn the power on but when I push the start button it clicks like something has tripped and won't start...

the click you hear is the start solenoid,you may have a motor problem,or the door switch may be open circuit,some motors have a start capcitor,if they go the motor wont run,sorry cant help more ,as you appreciate,without seeing it makes a bit hard
