How can I fix a DVD with scratches on it? I need the files?

My DVD camera says my DVD has scratches. I need to save the footage - the camera won't let me finalize.

Brassos is good. The scrathes are usually only in the laquer which is quite thick so you can rub some of it off.
Do not go round in circles, rub from side to side.
Makes DVD look horrible but gets rid of the deep scratches. Works on Shop ought disks, may not work on Rs and RWs. Shop bought disks are stamped out in teh factory and then covered in laquer but Rs and RWs work by changing eth colour of the dye under the laquer.

i borrow library DVD's that often will not play due to scratches. I have repaired them all using Meguiar's Mirror Glaze plastic polish that i used to use to clean a motorcycle plastic windshield. I seems to make the scratches invisible to the laser. very deep scratches may not be repairable.
