how do i replace a gearbox on a 2001 xsara picasso (1600)?

my gearbox on my y reg (2001) citroen xsara picasso, petrol, has packed up. How do I replace this? and where's cheapest to get a new one?

get a copy of the haynes manual for you car (number 3944, yrs 2000-2002) and the cheapest place for replacement gearbox is a good scrappy or online parts supplier, get the model number of your g/box by looking on yours for a small plate or it might be stamped on g/box. and you will just need to have a good look around for best price.
