Water is getting in - either the inlet solenoid valve is defective - or - the electronics are opening the inlet valve when they should not...
You might consider temporarily wiring an isolation switch into the circuit to the valve - let it finish its cycle and then throw the switch to isolate it.
Even easier might be to wire a neon across the supply to the inlet solenoid and see what's happening.
