Iron heats up, you can hear the pump, Lead to iron is warm to touch,but only half way.New Filter is installed. No Steam

After using steam for about 10mins the standby light starts flashing and the steam power stops. Continues working without steam but to get the steam going again I have to switch off the iron for a couple of minutes then switch on again. The green light comes on again for only about 10mins then goes into standby again.The thick cord from the base into the back of the iron seems to get very hot.
