renault scenic gearbox?

renualt scenic 1.6 8 valve alize auto. will not reverse and moves forward in neutral, drives ok in drive,anyone know what is going on before i replace the gearbox (1999 model) 100,000 miles

Sounds like a problem with gear shift selector cable or adjustment of shift cable!

it fights reverse, neutral edges forward but not like drive, ok in park when I start it.

Please repost stating if it fights Reverse or revs freely and if drive in Neutral is like normal Drive. Is Park also trying to move?
