my parents stannah 225/226 stairlift making a noise like something is catching or quick grating noise maybe bearings or something. Is it safe?

Sounds like the rollers are worn. If you continue to use it! You will damage the rail track. Are there any signs of metal filings at the bottom of the track

If so rollers for sure
