Rover 25 wont start?

Hi I have a Rover 25 (04 plate and 1.6i)
Just had the headgasket replaced but now the car wont start. We have spark, fuel and Checked the cam belt timing 100's of times.
No fault codes are registered and engine speed sensor is showing to be ok but all we can get is a very poor attempt of a misfire and will not run. the best we have managed is 30 seconds after towing whilst in gear but even theen we could not get it to rev up without it dieing.
Tried briefly to start the car without the manifold on to eliminate the possibilty of a blocked exhaust but still no joy.
Any ideas or suggestions would be highly appreaciated.

hi there u should try the fuel pump switch ,which is located in the boot under the lining ,because my sis car done the same ,cause if u hit a bump it can knock it off then u reset it ,if it does not work then i cant think of anything else unless its the alternator or starter motor , give it ah WHACK with a hammer and get someone to try and start ur rover 25 and it might work.

Found the problem, the dumbasses that skimmed and rebuilt the head put the cam pullys on the wrong way around.

have you checked compression in all four cylinders (did you get head skimmed and pressure tested before rebuild ) if all ok then timing must be out
