Phillips video recorder - will video but cannot get any sound. Video is about two years old never had this problem before

we need more info before we can help,
model number of philips VCR
is it a HI-FI recorder
are you using a scart lead to the TV,? if so make sure its not come loose.
try a pre recorder tape to make sure its not just lack of recorded sound
