My pc keeps losing the default gateway ip address?

Hello,

After having issues with keeping a constant wireless network
using my TALK TALK provided Echo life 521 router, the engineer suggested I used static IP addresses as there seems to be a clash with my two vista run machines and my W7 one. This seems to be working fine now apart from my main pc (running Vista) which keeps losing the default gateway IP address every time it is switched off or restarted. It does not matter how long i leave it on for (different time periods tried), the address box is empty.

The adapter is a USB Wireless 802.11 b/g Adaptor. I have updated the drivers so they are up to date but sill no joy.
Can you assist please?

Download and run a free utility called inSSIDer. It will show you what WiFi Channels are in use locally. Use that information to set your Router's WiFi channel to one that is not in use and is at least two channels away from any that are.

BTW, put all of your devices back to DHCP rather than Fixed Addresses. Fixed addresses should only be used for specific applications or you can get into a mess.

BTW2. Engineer? I bet he/she wasn't really one.
