ipod plug?

Why is the socket to enable you to play your ipod through your audio system in such a rediculous place ( the glove compartment )

i think its an afterthought by the car designers. I find in modern cars the socket is in a far more easily reachable place (center console), i had to ask my ford garage where mine was in my mondeo - in the end i went to maplins brought a 3mm jack socket and rewirded the socket into the dash board just below the radio cd (small plastic blanking plug)
