My Techwood TW160DRA08 DVD Rec won't do anything... ?

Hi, my Techwood TW160DRA08 DVD Recorder simply won't do anything... On applying power, the blue standby light comes on, but the display remains blank and it doesn't respond to input from either the remote or the buttons on the front panel. Any ideas...?
